Grand designs

Not new news, as such, but it occurred to us that we’d been remiss in not really talking about our partnership with the excellent people over at TDL-Creative. And given we’ve now been working together (formally) for just over a year, AND we’ve partnered on projects that have delivered in excess of £1bn for our clients… it seems like a good time to provide an update.

A quick recap! We decided it would be a pretty good idea to form a partnership with TDL, because (in the many, many years the 50D team has been producing bids) we’ve found that TDL produce by far the best graphic design and infographics work we've seen. And it’s a fact that well-designed infographics add a new dimension to bid submissions.

It’s our job as bid writers to ensure we articulate complex ideas in a simple, readily-understandable way. It’s something that we excel at. It’s also true, however, that when we’re producing a bid that covers complex data flows, or has to describe the intricate interactions between various digital systems, that a good infographic can help.

Well-designed infographics are a deceptively simple way of making text-heavy, process-oriented content easily digestible for commissioners. But the key term here is ‘well-designed’ and our work with TDL ensures that infographics enhance key details, bringing the solution to life, without detracting from the finer detail of the written content.

How do you make sure an infographic is well-designed? It’s a collaboration between our solution leads, our clients’ subject matter experts, and TDL’s design specialists. Understanding the solution is the start. Ensuring it aligns to the commissioner's requirements and delivers results for end-users is the middle. And finally, creating a clear, concise visual is the finish. Sounds easy? It’s not.

That’s why we work with TDL who have the knowledge and skill to support us to develop infographics that simplify complex systems and enhance understanding for commissioners. Working with TDL, we offer support across the entire business development cycle, building compelling presentations to support market engagement, creating engaging research documents, and designing intuitive graphics that bring solutions to life in tender submissions.

We've also worked with some of our clients to develop engaging marketing materials to support them to take products and solutions to market. Within our 50D team we have a number of communications and marketing specialists and it's been great to be able to share that expertise with our clients. In conjunction with TDL we've developed materials that our clients have used to successfully create sales and business opportunities in new and existing markets.
