Everesting Challenge

You may have noticed that we’ve been taking a little break from our Blog posts over the last month. We’ll be getting back to our ‘usual’ posts from next week, but first we wanted to share something a little more personal with you.

Last month the founder of 50 Degrees, Andy Bowie, lost his father-in-law (Stuart Cunningham) as a result of an inoperable brain tumour. In memory of Stuart, and to raise money for the Brain Tumour Charity, Andy is going to do an Everesting challenge – which means… cycling up and down a hill until he reaches the height of Mt Everest, 8,848m or c29,000ft.

He will be taking this challenge on by repeatedly cycling up a climb on the outskirts of Sheffield, known as ‘Fiddlers Elbow’, which takes you from Hathersage Rd up to Burbage (ave. gradient c7%, max c10%). It will be about 250km in a day.

If anyone local wants to join for a lap or two then they’re more than welcome!!

The exact date of the challenge may change due to the prevailing weather conditions, but is currently scheduled for Thursday 17th September. If anyone feels like sponsoring this stupid idea (Andy’s words), the link can be found below!

We thank you in advance for any much appreciated support.
